Normal (vaginal) delivery is preferred when low-risk. Caesarean section is recommended when vaginal delivery poses significant risk - placenta praevia, foetal distress, breech, previous C-section.
VBAC is possible for selected patients. Success rates are 60-80% in appropriate candidates. Dr. Srilekha evaluates previous scar type and current pregnancy risk factors.
Options: breathing techniques, TENS, IV opioid analgesia, epidural anaesthesia (most effective). Epidural availability is coordinated with an anaesthesiology team.
Induction starts labour artificially using prostaglandin gel, Foley balloon, or IV oxytocin - done when continuation of pregnancy is riskier than delivery.
